How does waxing hair removal work?A hot wax combination is spread thinly over the skin. A strip is then compressed over the top and pulled off with a quick movement removing the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells leaving the skin smooth. What's the difference between hot waxes and cold waxes?Good hot waxes melt just above body temperature. Good hot wax practitioners heat their wax way beyond body temperature. As the wax hardens hair is trapped in the wax so when the wax is removed the hair is removed at the root; providing smooth skin for weeks. Cold waxes are available in pre-coated strips which are not heated. The hair loosely sticks to the wax and is removed leaving many complete strands of hair and a fair few broken strands. Due to cold wax's inadequacies, it can take up to 3-4 attempts to remove all the hair from a single area. Waxing the same area of skin 3-4 times is one way of getting a painful rash; Blossom recommends the common stinging nettle as a cheaper, less painful way to achieve the cold wax after-effects! What effect does hot waxing hair removal have on the skin?As dead skin cells are removed in this process the skin feels very smooth afterwards. The hot waxing action does cause the skin to sting, which is why we apply an appropriate soothing skin healing cream immediately afterwards. How long before hair reappears?Generally between 3 and 8 weeks. Less hair regrows and it is generally finer. Eventually some hair never regrows.
